Lion Heera dies at Bannerghatta

Heera, a 20-year-old lion, died of prolonged illness at the Bannerghatta Biological Park on Wednesday.

The animal was rescued from New Grand Circus, Pandharpur in Maharashtra, on July 30, 2003.
He was seven years old when he was brought to the Bannerghatta Rescue Centre. He was unable to bear his weight. He had epilepsy on October 8 and was anorexic. The condition of the animal was not improving.

Tests revealed kidney failure, sources in the park said.
