A 19-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men at a house in east Delhi’s Shakarpur on Tuesday. She was taken to the flat on the pretext of a job interview.

After raping the woman, the three suspects dropped her outside Laxmi Nagar Metro station and fled, police said on Wednesday. Police have identified the suspects, but none of them were traced or nabbed till Wednesday night.

One of the suspects had identified himself as the owner of a placement agency in Laxmi Nagar. The victim lives with parents in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district.

Her elder sister lives with her family in Lajpat Nagar. “The woman had come to the capital last week to look for a job and was staying at her sister’s home,” said a police officer.

The incident came to the fore on Tuesday evening when the woman along with her sister approached Shakarpur police station.

A case of rape and illegal confinement has been registered against three men identified as Zubair, Shahid and Amjad. The woman in her complaint told police that she had met Zubair on the internet while she was looking for a job.

Zubair had introduced himself as a placement agency owner and promised her a job with good salary. He asked the woman to come to Laxmi Nagar for an interview.

On Tuesday, the woman met Zubair at Laxmi Nagar Metro station from where he took her to the fourth floor of a flat in Laxmi Nagar on the pretext of the interview.

“Shahid and Amjad were already present at the flat when the woman reached there with Zubair,” the officer added. She has alleged that the three men took turns to rape her.

Later they dropped her back to Laxmi Nagar metro station threatening her with dire consequences if she reported the matter with police.

After the accused fled, the woman called her sister and narrated the ordeal after which they went to Shakarpur police station to file the complaint.

“Several hideouts have been raided in Laxmi Nagar, but the three could not be traced. It appears that they have fled the city fearing arrest,” the officer said.
