A foodie's cup of tea

Last Updated 30 October 2015, 18:29 IST

With its rustic wooden chairs and tables and innovative setting, the small yet spacious ‘Chaaye Stall’ helps one forget the busy little lanes of JP Nagar soon as one enters it. It plays catchy tunes, both Indian and Western, and has the feel of a countryside.

The lights inside are dimmed by the tea-pot pendant lamps while the tick-tock clock is handmade with saucers. Also catching one’s attention are the many old latched doors on one side of the wall. This arty ambience is just a tasteful appetiser to what one witnesses next.

The witty menu has a humourous touch and starts off with a variety of ‘chais’ including the ‘cutting chaaye’, ‘queen of spices’, ‘go green’ and ‘sulemani chaaye’.

Coffee-lovers too have filter and black coffee to choose from while the variety of ‘chatpatas’ are all much sought-after.

To begin with some tangy ‘chatpatas’, they offer five types of ‘kachori’ with a range of Indianised dips that delight the taste buds. For crunchy and fried items to go with one’s tea, nothing can beat the ‘pakodes’ that have the unconventional ‘mirchi’ twist. While you are here, your tea break can extend to supper too as the place offers veg and non-veg momos, sandwiches and omelettes.

It also offers a variety of noodles including the ‘kheema Maggi’, ‘chicken sausage Maggi’ and the very spicy ‘Maggi Pataka’. The reasonable pricing and the ‘chatpata’ feast make the place perfect for a short outing with friends.

‘Chaaye Stall’ is located on 39, Ground Floor, Sai Plaza, HBCS 7th Cross, 2nd Phase, JP Nagar. For details, call 49652936.
