Two persons including a software engineer died in separate road accidents in the Yeshwantpur and Banaswadi traffic police limits.
A 26-year-old software engineer, who was not wearing a helmet, died when his bike skid on the Yeshwanthapura flyover on Sunday morning.
According to police, the deceased, Vinay Shankar, was a resident of Rajajinagar. Around 6 am, he was returning home from a friend’s house in Sanjay Nagar. He was on the Yeshwantpur flyover when he lost control over the bike. He suffered from severe head injuries and passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital. He was declared brought dead.
“The rider was not wearing a helmet and we are waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain if he was under the influence of alcohol,” said the police.
Hit and run
In a hit and run case, an unidentified vehicle rammed into a 35-year-old plumber near KEB Junction in Nagawara on Thursday. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night.
The deceased, Santosh Kumar Tharai, was a native of Odisha and a resident of Kogilu Cross near Yelahanka. On Thursday night, he and a friend, Lakshman, were returning home when the accident occurred.
Tharai was crossing the road, when a speeding vehicle rammed into him and he was thrown up in the air. He suffered from severe injuries. Lakshman and passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital, said the police.
Based on the complaint filed by Lakshman, the police are collecting CCTV footage and are trying to trace the vehicle, said the police.
