Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should withdraw his statement on beef consumption and apologise to public, said Legislative Council Opposition leader K S Eshwarappa.

Speaking to mediapersons during the Antyodaya Samavesha organised by the BJP State Backward Classes and SC/ST Morcha in Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday, he said that the statements given by the chief minister does not suit the dignity of his position.

Reaction

Retorting to the comments made by former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, he said that the BJP is not carrying out politics on the issue.

“Kumaraswamy should remember that the JD(S) leader and MLC Basavaraja Horatti too had condemned the chief minister’s statement. Kumaraswamy may also ask his mother Chennamma, whether the chief minister’s statement on beef consumption was right or wrong,” challenged Eshwarappa.

MP Shobha Karandlaje said that the Prime Minister is committed to the protection of cattle and to stop the cow slaughter.
