Injured traffic cops seek strict action

Last Updated 04 November 2015, 20:04 IST

A day after two traffic policemen were injured in separate road-rage incidents, the traffic police have demanded strict action.

M A Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said, “When the public are asked to follow traffic rules, they lose their cool and target cops. Since January, around 71 cases have been registered for attacking or abusing traffic policemen on duty. We are looking into the matter and people indulging in such incidents will be booked in accordance to law and strict action will be taken against them.”

Another senior police officer said, “We are discussing with senior police officers to cancel licences of such motorists, who try to misbehave with cops. People who take law into their hands will not be let off easy. From now on such incidents will be dealt with iron hands.”
