Last Updated 04 November 2015, 20:45 IST

Reviewing the progress of fencing on India-Bangladesh border, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked officials to ensure that the work is completed as early as possible as there should be no compromise on national security.

Modi’s comments came at the seventh interaction through the ICT-based, multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI).

Among the issues he reviewed other than the border fencing were “Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana”, grievances related to railways, infrastructure projects and Aadhar card enrolment. On the fencing of India-Bangladesh border, the prime minister asserted that there can be no compromise on an issue of national security.

He asked chief secretaries of all five states (West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Miporam), that share borders with Bangladesh, to work towards early completion of this project.
