Palace Board Director B G Indiramma made a futile attempt to open the golden throne for public view at Amba Vilas Palace recently.

There were rumours that Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of late royal scion Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar had lodged a complaint against the official.
However, Indiramma claimed that she did not remove the cover after Palace employees objected.

The incident reportedly happened on November 3, when Indiramma went inside the Palace, where the assembled golden throne has been placed and tried to remove its screen. But, a few Palace employees stopped her from doing so stating that it will affect the religious ceremonies.

“I agreed with them and came back. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar did not contact me in this regard,” Indiramma confirmed adding that her intention was not to disrespect throne, but, tried to provide an opportunity for the public to view the fabled throne. The throne was assembled for private durbar of royal scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar during Dasara in October. It will be dismantled on Friday and placed at the Palace strong room, she said.

However, District In-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad confirmed that no powers have been misused in this regard. “Palace Board Director Indiramma had informed me that visitors have been demanding to view the golden throne. I have asked her to review the matter,” he said adding that she might have tried to open the cover in public interest.

Police Commissioner

B Dayananda confirmed to Deccan Herald that no complaint against Palace Board director has been registered. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar has confirmed that the board authorities met her to discuss about the golden throne, he said.

Palace closed today

As Palace authorities will dismantle the golden throne on Friday, the Palace will be closed for public.
