Dengue treatment: Pvt hospitals to display rate chart

The State government has directed Health and Family Welfare Department officials to initiate action against private hospitals which refuse to display rate chart for treatment of dengue, Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil said, on Friday.

Speaking to reporters, he said that the government has already issued an instruction to all private hospitals in this regard. The move is aimed at preventing hospitals from fleecing patients. People can choose to receive treatment for dengue at the hospital which charges the least. But a large number of hospitals are not complying with the order, he added.

He said the government will soon convene a meeting of all ministers concenred to chalk out a plan to prevent hospitals from fleecing dengue patients. A proposal has been mooted to start a helpline to receive grievances from patients.

 “Government hospitals are providing free and quality treatment for dengue. People should make use of the service instead of going to private hospitals”, Dr Patil added.
