A day after Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya came under the scanner following a sting operation by a vernacular TV channel, two complaints have been filed at the Lokayukta on Friday.

First, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police seeking action against the minister. Later in the day, advocate K N Subba Reddy filed a complaint to the Upalokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi.

AAP leader Ravikrishna Reddy filed a complaint to the Lokayukta police City wing along with the sting operation video and newspaper reports.

TV sting
The complaint stated that in the TV sting Anjaneya’s wife Vijaya had accepted a bribe of Rs 7 lakh for awarding a contract for supply of food items to students’ hostels run by the Social Welfare Department. Ravikrishna Reddy urged the police to register a criminal case against the Minister Anjaneya, his wife Vijaya and deputy director of Backward Classes Welfare Department Prabhakar.

Later, K N Subba Reddy filed the complaint with the Upalokayukta seeking a direction to the police wing to hold an investigation. The Upalokayukta Justice Adi has forwarded the complaint to the ADGP Lokayukta Prem Shankar Meena, an official said.

The TV channel had claimed that Deputy Director of Backward Classes Welfare Department Prabhakar said that the minister’s wife, Vijaya, takes the decision on awarding contracts.

He later, took the TV sting team to Anjaneya’s official residence in Jayamahal Extension, where the minister’s wife received the cash.
