JOIN USThe State BJP on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Governor Vajubhai Vala seeking his intervention for the removal of Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya from the Cabinet.
Party leaders, including president Prahlad Joshi and MLA R Ashok, have requested Vala to impress upon Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take note of the “precarious condition” of the law and order in the State and take corrective measures on war-footing. They have also demanded a high-level inquiry into the transactions of the Social Welfare department.
The Opposition has been demanding the removal of Anjaneya from the Cabinet, following the sting operation by a TV channel which showed the minister’s wife accepting bribe.
“Anjaneya is close to Siddaramaiah, who is using him to attack his adversaries, as and when needed. It is shocking that the minister is continued in the Cabinet,” the memorandum reads.
The party also criticised Anjaneya for playing the caste card, instead of resigning. The party has also demanded action against Deputy Director Prabhakar for “striking the deal” with the suppliers.
Bribery sting: Court restrains media
A City court has granted stay order restraining the news channels and newspapers from telecasting or publishing any defamatory or unverified news against Social Welfare Minister Anjaneya and his family.
Vijaya, wife of the minister, had approached the 17th Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge Court on Saturday, seeking the court to restrain media from publishing, reporting or telecasting any unverified news in connection to the sting operation.
