The traffic police kick-started a campaign on lane discipline at a programme sponsored by DriveU app, by setting out a flock of ducklings on the stage, in the City on Monday.

C H Pratap Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), M A Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and J Ravishankar and Special Commissioner (Projects), BBMP, who were part of the event, sported placards before the audience and then pasted stickers with messages of lane discipline on different vehicles.

Later, Saleem told mediapersons that the police would carry out road markings and place barricades across the City. “After creating awareness for a month, we will impose penalty on those who do no follow lane discipline,” he informed.

Answering a question, Ravishankar said in the co-ordination meeting with officials from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) and the traffic police, it was decided that no roads will be dug up without written permission from the BBMP.

A gap of three months should be given between laying of  pipelines and asphalting of roads, he added.
