ComedK joins hands with firm for its first-ever online PGET
The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka or ComedK has combined with Era Foundation, a not-for-profit company, to conduct its annual postgraduate entrance test for medical and dental seats through an online computer-based test. The Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) will be held on January 17, 2016.
Till now the ComedK entrance was solely a pen-and-paper test that had to be written in Karnataka and for seats only in Karnataka institutions.
Era Foundation recently launched, what it described, an all India entrance test platform for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate medical and dental courses called the Uni-GAUGE.
A release from Era Foundation said: “With the partnership between ComedK and ERA Foundation, the students seeking admission to post graduate studies in medical and dental courses for the academic year 2016-17 can write one examination, and either appear for counselling for admission conducted by ComedK for its member institutions, or apply directly to the private / deemed Universities that accept Uni-GAUGE scores.
In other words, ComedK-PGET, 2016, and Uni-GAUGE PGMD (postgraduate medical dental entrance test) 2016, will be just one exam that enables students to seek admission to a number of institutions.”
The release further said that the test will be conducted at more than 60 cities across
India and will be conducted in a single session for three hours.
It will have 180 multiple choice questions (MCQ) each carrying one mark. There will be a separate test for each of the medical and dental streams. Repeated calls to S Kumar, General Secretary, ComedK, about the venture went unanswered.
The fee for ComedK PGET 2016 is Rs 3,000 and for Uni-GAUGE PGMD 2016 it is Rs 2,500. For students opting for both the entrance test the fee is Rs 4,500.
Registration for the tests began on Tuesday and students can also take mock test through links provided by the company.
