PM pushing divisive agenda under growth garb: Sonia

Last Updated 14 November 2015, 19:28 IST

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of pushing his divisive agenda.

Addressing a rally that drew the curtains on the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Jawaharlal Nehru, Sonia projected Modi as a complete anti-thesis of the first prime minister who believed in democracy that rested on the foundation of debate and exchange of free ideas.

“Simply because someone holds a different view or disagrees they cannot be branded a traitor. This is neither the way of our democracy nor a form of patriotism. It is a form of dictatorship. We are witnessing attempts by individuals and elements to whitewash their communal agenda in front of the world by hiding it behind the mask of development,” Sonia said.
