A teenager was stabbed to death in south Delhi’s Govindpuri on Tuesday. Though the victim’s mobile phone was taken away by the culprits, police have denied it to be an incident of attack over resisting robbery.

Police have detained two of his friends on the basis of allegations leveled by his family members.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul, 17, a resident of Tughlakabad Street Number-1. His mother told police that his friends had arrived at their house on a scooty late on Monday.

“Rahul left with them. When he did not return home, his mother even contacted his friends. They told her that Rahul had already left,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Mandeep Singh Randhawa.

Rahul’s body later was found with stab wounds in his abdomen at 5 am on Tuesday in Tughlakabad Street Number-5. Another police officer said that a local made a call to the police control room after seeing Rahul being attacked by a group of youths.
The attack was also captured on a CCTV camera, but the footage is not clear enough to identify the accused.

So far, the investigating officers have not narrowed down on any suspects, but personal enmity is suspected to be the reason which led to the attack. “We are ascertaining the motive behind the attack,” the officer added.

Police have questioned Rahul’s family members and friends. His mother told police that he had left home late on Monday after receiving a call on his mobile phone. “The call was to inform that his friends were waiting for him,” the officer added. Late on Monday, Rahul’s mother also contacted his friends, but they claimed that he had left around 10 minutes back.

Rahul’s family have refused knowledge about enmity with any friend or colleague. Local police, however, said that Rahul was friends with many youngsters with criminal background. Rahul’s body was handed over to family after post-mortem on Tuesday evening.

A case of murder has been registered with Govindpuri police station. Police have obtained and analysed the call data records of Rahul’s mobile phone.
