JOIN USA school teacher sexually assaulted a minor girl at a government school in a village in Arkalgud taluk of the district on Tuesday.
According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s parents, the victim, a class five student at the government primary school in her village, was raped by her teacher Srinivas, 50.
As the other teachers were on leave on Tuesday, Srinivas was handling the classes alone. Around 3.30 pm, he summoned the girl to the library on some pretext and raped her, said the complaint.
The girl looked dull when she returned home that evening. She refused to go to school the next morning and started crying. She told them of the assault and the parents, along with a few villagers, went to the school to question Srinivas.
The police have taken Srinivas into custody. The BEO Nagesh visited the school and a case has been registered at the Arkalgud police station.
