The Loka yukta special court on Thursday granted bail to tahsildar (Bengaluru south) Dr B Dayanand, who was arrested in case of forging documents and transferring land belonging to Vijaya Bank Employees’ Housing Cooperative Society Limited on Bannerghatta Road.

The Lokayukta police had arrested the KAS officer on November 9. The Lokayukta special court judge granted conditional bail to Dayanand and directed him to co-operate with the investigation.Land transferred.

The case is that the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had acquired one acre and 34 guntas of land owned by K Abbayappa for a layout at Bilekahalli in 1994 and transferred the land to Vijaya Bank Employees’ Housing Co-operative Society (VBEHCS).

Abbayappa died in 2001, however, an application was filed in his name before Bengaluru South taluk administration in 2014 for conversion of the said land.

The taluk officials forwarded the file to the Bangalore Development Authority and a ‘no objection certificate’ (NoC) was issued.

The officials then moved the file to the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner, who approved the change of land use. According to Lokayukta police, Dayanand and other officials who submitted him the report had visited the property on a same day.
