A classic for the season

Christmas flavour

Caught by Christmas’, a highly energetic adaptation of Charles Dicken’s classic ‘A Christmas Carol’, will be presented by Indigo Kids Edutainment on November 28, 5 pm, at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. It has the wonder of Christmas, the ghostliness of 19th century England, the joy of the season all rolled up into a singing, dancing, and shouting with glee musical.

The show is written and directed by Pinxx Daga, a veteran of theatre stages around the world. She premiered on the Mumbai stages eight years ago, armed with degrees in Literature and Theatre from Boston University, with theatrical  experience in London and New York. ‘Caught by Christmas’ is a homage to classic theatre, with seasoned actors transporting the audience back into the 1900s straight into the heart of Charles Dickens’ story. The story itself is the journey of a man’s transformation, and the way he traces his roots back to his heart.

Visually appealing with a split level stage, ‘Caught by Christmas’ is rendered in a style fitted to true theatre — a style where the actors, their subtleties and nuances are what carries the story. Children go back with loads of laughs, and a lesson well learnt on how it’s the love and charity in our hearts that make the difference in life.

Indigo Kids Edutainment opened their act eight years ago with a play in the park for 50 children. The play, ‘Goldilocks’, set the stage for unforgettable children’s theatre — the likes of which had rarely been seen on Indian stages.
