'Relationship, fear of losing property led to murder'

Last Updated 20 November 2015, 18:55 IST

As the sensational Sheena Bora murder case gets murkier, it has now emerged that the relationship between the victim and Rahul Mukerjea was the main cause behind the crime

.

It is because the property could have gone to them in the event of their marriage, according to the charge sheet filed by the CBI against Indrani Mukerjea Mukerjea, her first husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai.

On Thursday evening, the CBI filed the charge sheet and minutes later arrested Peter, Indrani’s second husband and Rahul’s biological father—former Star India CEO and co-founder of INX Media Pvt Ltd, for his complicity in the April 2012 murder of Sheena, Indrani’s daughter from her former live-in partner Siddhartha Das.

Dwelling on Rahul and Sheena’s relationship, the CBI pointed out that Indrani wanted the property for Vidhie, her daughter with her first husband Sanjeev Khanna, a Kolkata-based businessman.

“....In this context, she planned a conspiracy with Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyamvar Rai to kill Sheena Bora,” the charge sheet said, pointing out that there was a tiff between the mother and daughter over the proceeds of sale of a New Delhi flat and the latter’s constant demand for a flat in Mumbai.

However, at another place, the charge sheet pointed out that Vidhie, who was adopted by Peter Mukerjea and currently studies in Europe, had also sounded off Rahul and Sheena about possible threats to them after seeing her mother angry.
