Eight cars damaged in overnight rampage

Seven drunk youths went on a rampage damaging eight cars that were parked in front of houses at Vijayanagar minutes after Saturday midnight.

The police said that, at around 12.30 am on Sunday, the inebriated youths came on bikes and damaged at least eight cars that were parked in front of the houses in MC Layout and Govindarajanagar. They pelted stones and damaged the windshields of the cars before trying to flee, said the police.

On hearing the commotion, Sunil Kumar, a resident of Govindarajanagar and a driver by profession, came out and noticed his car damaged. He saw the youths trying to flee on the bikes.

Neighbours alerted
He gave a chase and tried to nab them. But he was assaulted by the youths. Kumar alerted the neighbours, who rushed to the spot and nabbed four youths.

They thrashed them before handing them over to the police. However, three others managed to escape, said the police.

Based on the information provided by the arrested youths, the rest of them were arrested.
They told the police that they did for fun as they were drunk. The police arrested Sanjay, Bharath,  Manju, Raju, Sachin, Vinay, and Jayanth. They are aged around 19 to 22 years and residents of Chamrajapet and T Dasarahalli. A case has been registered against the youths in Vijayanagar police station.
