Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday appointed one more parliamentary secretary in addition to the 10 who were appointed on November 5.

Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj is the latest addition to the list. He was sworn in on Monday evening. As this post is equivalent to the Minister of State rank, he is entitled to salary and allowances under the Karnataka Ministers Salaries and Allowances Act, 1956.

Sources said that though Madhwaraj’s name was in the first set of names sent to the Congress high command, it had not been approved.

The high command is, however, said to have approved the name on Monday, following which he was immediately sworn in.

Sources said Siddaramaiah had suggested two to three more names, including MLC from Dharwad Srinivas Mane. His name is likely to be approved shortly.
