JOIN USRuchita Sud never thought entrepreneurship would be her cup of tea. Going by her father’s call to enrol into the Bengaluru Youvapreneur Anubhava workshop, she attended the three-day event. Just as she could collect the certificate, she remarked that the workshop had her so inspired that she would want to have a start-up of her own.
This 11th grade student from Bishop Cottons School was chosen to be the ‘Youvapreneur’ at the event organised by EcoMUKTI and Camp BizSmart. Bengaluru Youvapreneur Anubhava was a learn, invent, aspire workshop and pitch competition for teen entrepreneurs in the City.
As part of the workshop, aspiring entrepreneurs between 11 and 17 years of age were asked to develop a business idea for the supply of potable drinking water on the lines of a project which was developed by the professors from Indian Institute of Science or improvise it to suit the needs of the market.
Prashanth, co-founder, EcoMUKTI, said that the task assigned to them was to invent a ‘cool product’ in a fast-cycle production mash-up. “The 43 participants are from schools in Bengaluru and two of them are from Honnavar. They were divided into 10 teams based on their ideas,” he said.
“During the course, participants will learn the bare bones of how to develop a business idea, present before company executives and take a product to market.”
On the first day, activities were planned to help participants identify their strengths, second day saw problem solving (where real world problems were presented before them) while on the third day, they had to make a presentation of a project of their own.
Elian, the camp director from Camp BizSmart, trained the participants during the sessions which also involved fun activities. At the end of the event, the Youvapreneur award, the winning team, best design and prototype and the best market success awards were given to participants.
