Vinayaka Murthy, a 30-year-old KSRTC bus driver and a conductor, committed suicide at his residence in Dasarahalli, under Amruthalli police limits on Monday afternoon.

According to police, when Murthy did not come out of the bedroom for a long time, his wife went to check upon him and found him hanging from the ceiling. She alerted other family members and the police.

His wife alleged that Murthy was harassed by her senior Chowdaiah, who worked in the traffic section. Chowdaiah had asked Murthy to meet top officials related to work and the latter was upset over this, she added.

Meanwhile, a KSRTC press release stated that the managing director had ordered an internal inquiry and if any official was found guilty, action would be initiated against him, it said. The KSRTC was also awaiting a report from the jurisdictional police, carrying out an investigation.

Murthy was working in depot - 6 of the Bengaluru central division since last couple of years. He had not reported for duty since November 14.

On a complaint filed by the deceased’s wife, the police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Chowdaiah.
