Complaint against actor in Delhi

Last Updated 24 November 2015, 19:04 IST

A complaint was filed with the Delhi Police a day after Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan joined the debate over ‘rising intolerance’ in India.

On Tuesday, social filmmaker Ullhas PR filed the complaint with New Ashok Nagar police station in east Delhi.

Khan had on Monday said at a journalism awards ceremony that he was alarmed over the rise in acts of intolerance in the last six to eight months. Khan said his wife Kiran had even suggested leaving the country.

In his complaint, Ullhas wrote that Khan should clarify which society he is talking about. “Khan said a sense of insecurity and fear had seeped deep within society even in his family. I also live in this society and I do not feel insecure and scared in my country,” Ullhas wrote.

Ullhas highlighted that Khan should not have mentioned this in a general way. Ullhas feels that India is a country where one could even question the Supreme Court, if it is at fault as an institution. “I as a citizen of this country feel that the celebrities of this country should think before speaking,” Ullhas told Deccan Herald.

Ullhas has also attached a copy of the fundamental duties as per the Constitution of India.According to police, no FIR has been registered over the complaint so far. “It is not the first complaint by Ullhas against Khan. He had earlier filed a similar complaint after the release of Khan’s film PK last year,” said B S Gurjar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).

Ullhas had also registered a case against the Supreme Court with Tilak Marg police station in central Delhi.

Ullhas claims to be a social filmmaker who is “trying to promote social cause through his short films. Although most of the times, the films somehow try to educate people regarding civic sense and humanity it’s not in a typical boring genre, but through humour.”
