Polls to 25 Council seats on December 27

Elections to 25 seats of the Legislative Council, to be elected from the Local Authorities constituency, will be held on December 27 and counting of votes will be taken up on December 30.

The Election Commission of India on Tuesday announced the calendar of events for the elections - for which members of both rural and urban bodies form the electoral college. The present members will retire on January 5 next year.

A press release stated, the model code of conduct will come into force with immediate effect in the districts where the constituencies are located. Also, the Election Commission’s instructions relating to defacement of public and private properties shall be applicable.
