Council polls: HDK sticks to his stand on truck with Congress

Last Updated 25 November 2015, 19:45 IST

A day after JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy expressed his discontent over his party’s proposal to forge an alliance with the Congress to fight the legislative council elections, his party colleague Zameer Ahmed Khan said that if the alliance fails, then the party State president would be directly responsible for it.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Khan (Chamrajpet MLA), said that he had met AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh at the behest of both H D Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy. “If the alliance does not work out, it will be because of Kumaraswamy,” he added.

Maintaining his stand, Kumaraswamy said that it was decided in the party legislature party meeting that JD(S) would fight the elections independently. He also said that he hadn’t asked Khan to go and meet Singh. He said that he wouldn’t want anything to do with the alliance, even if his father were to disagree with him.
