3-day judicial custody for prime accused in memorial theft case

The judicial magistrate first class court (JMFC) of Thirthahalli on Saturday remanded Revanasiddappa, the prime accused in the theft case at Kuvempu Memorial, in three-day police custody.

The court remanded Aanjanappa and Prakash, the two other accused in the case in judicial custody for 15 days. All the three have been arrested in connection with the theft at Kuvempu Memorial at Kuppalli in Chikkamagaluru taluk on the night of November 23.
Police have intensified their search for the Padma Vibhushana medal that was stolen from the Kuvempu Memorial.

During interrogation, Revanasiddappa had stated that he lost the medal while escaping from the Museum after stealing it. The police team is searching for the medal in and around the Memorial premises and in the forest close by.

It may be recalled here that the police had recovered two medals presented by the University of Mysore to poet laureate Kuvempu from the accused Prakash, who had purchased them from Revanna.
