Bhushan to hit streets over Jan Lokpal today

Last Updated 30 November 2015, 01:41 IST

Expelled AAP leaders Prashan Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav plans to protest outside the Delhi Assembly on Monday to voice protest over the weak Jan Lokpal Bill proposed to be tabled in the House by the Arvind Kejriwal government.

The bill is likely to be presented on Monday.

Bhushan earlier called the draft of the anti-graft bill ‘mahajokepal’ and a cruel joke with the public and challenged Kejriwal for a public debate on the issue.

Once together with activist Anna Hazare in the anti-corruption movement, Kejriwal and the duo of Bhushan and Yadav are no more on the same page on Janlokpal issue.

Bhushan and Yadav’s agitation against the proposed anti-graft bill of the Kejriwal government will be held under the aegis of Swaraj Abhiyan, a group floated by Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav following their expulsion from AAP.

Bhushan said the proposed a Janlokpal  would be completely controlled by the government.

He disagreed with the AAP claim that the Bill is identical to the draft prepared during the Anna Hazare movement and the 2014 Bill that Kerjiwal government unsuccessfully tried to introduce in the Delhi Assembly before quitting.

“If you have actually copied from Janlokpal Bill 2014 or Uttarakhand Bill, then what took you so long? Why did Arvind keep on tweeting that he is drafting the Bill?”  Bhushan asked.

AAP spokesperson Ashutosh questioned as to why they and Yogendra Yadav, another expelled AAP leader, did not protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not appointing Lokpal at the Centre.

“AAP brings LOKPAL PB,YY,SB decide to stage a protest? Why? Double standard? Do you need more proof of collaboration between them-BJP. Modi has not appointed LOKPAL for last 18 months but Prashant, Yogendra, Shanti did not have time to criticise/protest till date. Why?” Ashutosh tweeted.
