Friends bludgeoned victim to death with logs, stone

A minor scuffle during a cricket match ended in the murder of a 22-year-old youth in Vysya bank Colony under the Hulimavu police station limits on Tuesday.

The police have identified the deceased as Shiva Kempegowda, a resident of Subramanyapura and an office attendant in a private company in Hulimavu.

 On Tuesday, Shiva and his friends got into a heated argument while playing cricket. A few  passersby, who witnessed the incident, pacified the warring parties.

Around 10 pm, a group of youth, who wanted to settle a score or two with Shiva, found the latter in Vysya Bank colony.

They attacked Shiva with wooden logs and bludgeoned him with a stone before fleeing the spot. The people who were witness to the incident, informed the police. 

The police rushed Shiva to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead who shifted him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, said the police.

Based on the information obtained from the people who had witnessed the attack, police detained five persons, who confessed to the crime during the questioning.

The victim and the accused were friends residing in Subramanyapura. A minor argument led to the murder, added the police.

A case has been registered in Hulimavu police station and investigation is being carried out to find if there are any other motive for the murder.

Street vendor stabbed
In another incident, a 29-year-old street vendor was stabbed to death by his friend over a financial dispute at Farookhi Nagar in Jagajeevanram Nagar police limits.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Wasim. According to the police, Wasim was stabbed with a knife by Salman. Both the victim and the accused were residents of Farookhi Nagar.

Around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, Salman got into a heated exchange with Wasim after the latter refused to lend money.

A while later, Salman stabbed his friend with a knife and fled the spot.

The passersby informed the police about the incident and rushed the profusely bleeding Wasim to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead, the police said.

The police picked up Salman for questioning based on the eyewitness account of the incident. Salman  confessed to the crime during questioning, said a senior police official.

The Jagajeevanram Nagar police have registered murder cases reported in respective police stations.
