JOIN USTop seed SP Ritu crushed second-seeded Taarini Chandramouli 6-1, 6-0 to claim the girls’ under-14 title in the Team Excellence AITA Talent Series tennis tournament which concluded at the Team Excellence Tennis Centre, Kreedagram in Hennur on Friday.
Second seeded Anthony Savio got the better of Harsh Manjunath, the top seed, to grab the corresponding boys’ crown.
Top seed Aryan Goveas claimed the boys’ under-12 title, outplaying seventh seed Mohit K Reddy 6-1, 6-4.
Aryan completely dominated the first set and then raced to a 4-2 lead in the second before Mohit staged a mini fightback to recover to 4-5, but Aryan held his nerve and his serve to carve out a 6-4 win.
Second seed CS Praneetha took the girl’s under-12 honours, upstaging top seed Nupur Umashankar 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 after grim battle.
