Man hits anganwadi teacher, shoots himself to death

A 40-year-old man barged into an anganwadi centre at Mulikkar near here, assaulted a teacher and later shot himself to death on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Umesh Gowda (40), a resident of Neriya.
The injured teacher, Honnamma, has been admitted to the government hospital in Belthangady.

The teacher was writing notes after the students left the school at 4.30 pm, when Gowda barged inside and assaulted the teacher.

As she managed to run outside, Gowda, who had brought a country-made gun along with him, shot himself to death.It is said that Gowda was keen on marrying Honnamma last year.
Though she agreed initially, she later refused as Gowda has a criminal background.

Earlier attempt

He had also tried to assault her earlier too, she had filed a complaint against him and the police had warned him.

A liquor bottle was found in his possession. Police have recovered the bullets.
They have registered a case and investigations are on.
