JOIN USA 24-year-old pregnant homemaker committed suicide at her residence near Nayandahalli under the Chandra Layout police limits on Friday.
The police gave the name of the victim as Sowmya. Around eight months ago, she married Jagadish, a cab driver. Both are natives of Mandya.
Jagadish left for work on Friday morning, while Sowmya, who was alone at home, hanged herself from the ceiling.
The incident came to light when Jagadish returned home in the evening. He informed his family members and the police, who shifted the body for post-mortem.
The family members told the police Sowmya was four months into her pregnancy. She was coundergoing treatment for other ailments, but was depressed about her health. This might have led her to take the extreme step, said the police. A case has been registered in the Chandra Layout police station.
