Enjoy bowling with Ashwin: Jadeja

On a terrific high in this series, Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja said he has enjoyed bowling with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as they torment the South Africans.

The duo has headed the list of wicket-takers, collectively taking 47 wickets so far.
Jadeja, who took his fourth five-wicket haul in the first innings on Friday, believes he and Ashwin have developed a good understanding. The two will have a crucial role to play as India look to close out the fourth Test.

“We have played a lot together and we interact a lot during net sessions. We are now doing well, just like the 2013 Aussie series, so I am feeling good. We understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses. He keeps on telling me about my weak areas and how I can improve,” Jadeja said.

“I am bowling the way I did in Ranji Trophy. The home conditions in Saurashtra had wickets which were turning. A lot of negativity had crept in me and I felt I needed to get rid of that. Now, with the kind of performance I am having, I hope to do well in coming matches also.”

Jadeja said India are in a good position in the Test and admitted the Kotla pitch was better than the one in Nagpur.

“Now you can’t call this a turner. I don’t think there’s anything special in the wicket. It’s just we batted well in the first innings. As the game progresses, the wicket will get worse, so we are in a good position. I think this is a far better wicket than the one at Nagpur.

With the World Twenty20 round the corner Jadeja felt he has made a timely comeback. “When I was dropped from the team, I think in June-July, I was out for 6 months. It was the start of the Ranji Trophy season and three matches were in Rajkot, it was also that luck also favoured us. I worked hard at the ground and it all fell in place,” he said.
