Bardhan suffers paralytic attack, critical

Senior most communist leader of the country and former general secretary of CPI, A B Bardhan  suffered a paralytic attack on Monday and was admitted to the GB Pant Hospital in central Delhi.

His condition is critical, said party leader Atul Kumar Anjan. “He (Bardhan) is still critical and is partially responding to medicines. Doctors have kept him on observation and are waiting for improvement for further action,” CPI said in a statement.
Ninety-two-year-old Bardhan who lives in the CPI Headquarters at Ajay Bhavan felt uneasy early in the morning and lost his consciousness. He was rushed to the nearby GB Pant Hospital.

Bardhan became party’s general secretary in 1996 and the held post till 2012. He was elected to Maharashtra Assembly in 1957. He unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabah elections from Nagpur in 1989.

 Last year played an important role in forging a Left Front of six left parties at the national level.
