The Congress legislators on Wednesday claimed that there are ‘enough’ evidences against Upalokayukta Justice Subash Adi to move a motion in the Legislative Assembly seeking his removal.

Speaking to reporters, party leader V S Ugrappa claimed that Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa never said he was not convinced with the evidence provided by the Congress along with a petition seeking to move a motion for Justice Adi's removal.

“Kagodu actually said that charges against Justice Adi prima facie appear true and that he is gathering more evidences against him,”  Ugrappa said.

He took exception to BJP leaders Jagadish Shettar and S Suresh Kumar for holding the Congress responsible for the present situation in the Karnataka Lokayukta.

BJP responsible

The BJP was in power in the State when Justice Y Bhaskar Rao was appointed as the Lokayukta. The appointment was made only after consulting the then State government. Hence, the BJP is responsible for corruption in Lokayukta, he charged.

Congress MLC H M Revanna accused the BJP of converting Raj Bhavan into its office ever since Vajubhai Vala became the Governor.

“The Governor has been unnecessarily creating hurdles in the way of the government. Whether it is appointing members to the Karnataka Public Service Commission or appointing Justice K L Manjunath as the Upalokayukta, the Governor has been creating problems,” he said.

He also accused Governor of appointing RSS workers as syndicate members of various universities in the State.
