CM announces Rs 11 cr for pilgrim centres

Govt will decide on CBI probe into UKP works: CM

He made this announcement at the foundation laying ceremony of Lingayat Panchamasali Prathama Jagadguru Mahapeet, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs  30 crore on five-acre land donated by Minister Murugesh Nirani, at Kudalasangam in Hungund taluk on Tuesday.

Also, Rs 11 crore will be sanctioned shortly for the development of various  pilgrimage centres at Basavanabagewadi, Ingaleshwara and M K Hobli, he added.
“The prime minister will be pressured to secure articles belonging to Rani Chennamma from London,” said Yeddyurappa.

Probe into UKP
Talking to the media at Kudalasangam, on Tuesday, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said the government will arrive at a decision after thoroughly inquiring into the alleged irregularities in the sub-contract work of Upper Krishna Project (UKP). Investigation is already being conducted into the  UKP sub-contract work episode, he added.  
When questioned about CBI inquiry into the incident, the chief minister said that the government would take a decision only after the completion of the  probe.
Pre-budget meeting will be held to discuss the compensation to be awarded for the displaced in the Upper Krishna Project, he added.

Pro-farmer budget
On the sidelines of the foundation laying ceremony of the Panchamasali  Mahapeet, Yeddyurappa said that a pro-farmer budget will be presented within the financial constraints of the government.
In the budget greater emphasis will be laid on agriculture, health, education, rural development, he explained.

‘Budget in first week of March’
Hubli, dhns:  The State Cabinet which will meet in Bangalore on Wednesday will decide the date for presenting the budget.
Disclosing this at a pre-budget discussion organised by the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) here on Tuesday, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said the budget would be presented in the first week of March and that preparations are on. Aspirations of associations of industries, trade organisations and the common people will be considered while preparing the budget, he added.
