Interactive art and technology installations from San Francisco will soon light up Bengaluru.

Under the aegis of Invest Karnataka 2016, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between San Francisco and Bengaluru on Monday to have co-operation in the field of technological interventions in arts, culture and museums, as a part of the sister initiatives between the two cities.

The interactive art installations are aimed at sparking imagination and public interaction. According to the LoI signed by San Francisco Mayor Edwin M Lee and Karnataka’s Commissioner for Industrial Development Gaurav Gupta, participatory and interactive art and technology installations will be constructed at public places near the Cubbon Park and Vidhana Soudha metro stations as well as San Francisco’s Civic Center Bay Area Rapid Transit Station.

The cleaning and sprucing up of public spaces will be done by art colleges and organisations in Bengaluru and San Francisco. With this LoI, the government recognises the vital role art plays in strengthening community. The partnership project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

This collaboration in the field of public art is the result of a high-level delegation led by Industries Minister R V Deshpande, which is touring the US and France ahead of Invest Karnataka 2016, Karnataka’s flagship global investors meet scheduled to be held in February next.
