Travelling by train from B'luru to Patna? Check the terminating railway station

If you are planning to travel from Patna to Bengaluru or vice versa, you must cross-check the originating/terminating station in the capital of Bihar.

For, chances are you will have to board the Patna-Bengaluru City Sanghamitra Express (Train No 12296) from Patliputra Junction, not Patna station, as is the practice till now.

The newly-constructed Patliputra Junction, located about 12 km from the Patna station, is likely to be thrown open to public on Wednesday. The East Central Railway (ECR), under whose jurisdiction it falls, will run two pairs of train starting December 16. This includes Patliputra-Chandigarh Express and Patliputra-Yeswantpur Express.

After successful running of these two trains from Patliputra junction, the railways intends to run the Sanghamitra Express, Lokmaniya Tilak Express (from Jaynagar to Mumbai) and Patna-Pune Express from this newly-built station.

“This is being done to ease the heavy rail traffic,” said the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of East Central Railway, A K Rajak.
