ED again raids PC son's office

For the second time in less than a month, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths on Wednesday conducted raids on the company allegedly owned by former Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s son Karti.

The ED sources, however, refused to disclose whether they had seized any document from the firms that were raided since morning. Reacting to the raids, Karti said, “Neither I nor any of my family members have any connections with the said firms.”

Earlier on December 2, ED authorities and Income Tax Department officials
conducted raids at various companies in Tamil Nadu allegedly linked with Karti.

Chidambaram had earlier said, “If the government wishes to target me, they should do so directly, not harass friends of my son who carry on their own businesses and have nothing to do with politics.”

“My family and I are quite prepared to face the malicious onslaught launched by the government,” he added.

Sources in the ED wing said the series of raids, including the Wednesday search, were conducted with regard to alleged money laundering case in the Aircel-Maxis deal.
