The State government is mulling over issue of fresh bar licences considering the population in the State, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said.

“Liquor licences have not been issued for more than 20 years now. There has been increase in the sale of illicit liquor as there are no licensed liquor shops in proportion to the increase in population during this period” Siddaramaiah said here on Thursday.

The chief minister was speaking to reporters at Toranagal helipad near here. He said that issue of new licences would help in curbing sale of illicit liquor.
