Ayush wellness festival kicks off at Pilikula today

The two-day Ayush Habba, organised by the State Ayush Department, the Dakshina Kannada district administration and the Ayush Foundation, Mangaluru, will be held at Dr Shivaram Karanth Nisargadhama, Pilikula, from December 19.

Briefing media persons here on Friday, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said the Ayush festival is an attempt to promote traditional systems of medicine by bringing them on a common platform in an attempt to popularise the Ayush systems among the general public.

Ayush Arogya cards will be distributed at the festival. The cards can be used by patients at various Ayush college hospitals to obtain medicines and treatments at concession rates, he added.

Ayush officer Dr Devadas said one of the main attractions of the event is the food festival wherein nutritious organic food will be demonstrated. The food festival will have demonstration of about 250 diet food and will serve around 30 to 40 food varieties at reasonable prices, he added.

Dr Asha Jyothi Rai said a free health check-up camp, yoga sessions, lifestyle workshops, Ayush quiz, home remedies and diet  and herbal exhibition and cultural programmes will be organised as part of the Ayush festival. Doctors will provide guidance to visitors on how to manage lifestyle disorders, she noted.

About 12 breeds of cattle, along with the benefits of ‘Panchagavya’ medicines — use of cow products — will also be showcased on the occasion. Cosmetic clinics will be set up where experts will perform beauty enhancement therapies.

More than 40 stalls on organic products will be set up. About 70 stalls will related to ayurveda pharmacy. Demonstrations will be held on Panchakarma, Nadi treatment, Kalari, Yoga, Naturopathy, acupuncture, Hijama treatment and other treatments.

Interaction programme

After the inaugural programme, an interaction with the farmers and Ayurveda pharmaceutical producers has been organised. A demonstration on Kalaripayattu will be held. The students of Alva’s Ayurveda College will present a classical dance programme at 4 pm. Russian Ayurveda and Astromedical Academy will present Russian Fusion Dance at 4.45 pm.
