Lokayukta cops file charge sheet against retd KSRTC official

The Lokayukta police have filed a charge sheet against Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation former director (technical) S K Paramesh in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

The police claimed the officer possessed DA worth Rs 1.67 crore. The cops had raided Paramesh and six other officials in December 2012. The officer had total assets of Rs 2.59 crore and an expenditure of Rs 2.07 crore. Investigations revealed that Paramesh had an income of Rs 2.99 crore from various sources – 55 per cent of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The Lokayukta police have stated that the officer had purchased properties at eight places in Bengaluru and on the outskirts of the City. He had 13 bank accounts and possessed two cars, 690 gm gold and 2,700 gm silver. During the raid, the police had also recovered Rs 8 lakh in cash from the official’s house.

Final stage
A senior Lokayukta police officer said many cases of disproportionate assets were in the final stage of investigation.

“The officer with the KSRTC had retired sometime ago, hence there’s no need of a sanction to file the charge sheet. We will soon write to various competent authorities requesting sanction of prosecution. Many cases registered in 2012-2013 are reaching the final stage of investigation,” the officer said.
