Modi to inaugurate int'l conference on Yoga on January 3

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate “International Conference on Frontiers in Yoga Research and its Applications,” (21st INCOFYRA) scheduled to take place in the City between January 3 and 7, 2016. Modi would inaugurate the event on January 3.

Organised by Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-Vyasa) institute, the theme chosen for the conference is - “Integrating best of the East with the best of West in medicinal practices.” The event is scheduled to take place at the Prashanthi Kutiram in Jigani.

Addressing a press conference in the City on Wednesday, Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader said that the Ministry for Health and Family Welfare, Ministry for Tourism, Ministry for Culture, are among the partners for the event. The event would throw light on the possibility of having integrated medicine to treat modern day ailments.

“Be it mental illness, cardio-vascular diseases, cancer, emotional imbalance, blood pressure, diabetes and other non-communicable diseases, researchers who have worked on these diseases immensely, would take part in the event. Over 10,000 delegates from over 25 countries are expected to take part in the event,” Khader said.

He also said that to promote Indian medicine, “Ayush Mela” would be organised as part of the event. On January 2, before the event kicks off, Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani would be having a discussion onintroducing yoga  in the curriculum in schools and colleges. vice chancellors from 20 universities would take part in the discussion, according to Dr H R Nagendra, founder, S-Vyasa.
