In a shocking incident that sent ripples across IT campuses, a woman was allegedly raped by two persons and also filmed inside the Pune campus of IT major Infosys in Pune.

The incident once again highlights the safety and security of women at workplaces.

The incident took place on Sunday inside the Infosys campus at the Rajiv Gandhi Information Technology Park at Hinjewadi on the outskirts of Pune.

The 25-year-old worked as a cashier in the canteen and was employed by a service provider. The accused, Paritosh Baug (21) and Prakash Kisan Mahadik (30), worked with the housekeeping department and they sexually assaulted the victim inside the washroom.

“A woman has approached us with a complaint that she has been raped....we have registered a case and arrested two persons,” said Inspector Vishwajeet Khule of Hinjewadi police station.

One of the two accused had raped the woman in the lavatory while the other filmed the scene on his mobile phone. The accused had threatened the victim not to inform anyone about the incident else they would make the clips public. However, despite the threats, the woman lodged the complaint and ensured that the culprits are booked.

Meanwhile, Infosys in a press statement said: "With regard to the alleged incident at our Pune campus involving our partners’ contractual staff, we are investigating the matter and are working closely with the police to aid their investigation."

The statement said that Infosys have stringent security measures in place in its campuses and have a zero tolerance policy against sexual harassment which extends to the contractual staff as well. The company will take necessary action as per policy, it said.
