Arvind Jadhav  is new chief secretary

The State government on Wednesday appointed senior IAS officer Arvind Jadhav as the new Chief Secretary of Karnataka with effect from December 31, 2015. He will replace Kaushik Mukherjee who retires on Thursday.

Jadhav, a 1978 batch officer, is the senior most IAS officer of the State cadre. He will have a six-month tenure as he will attain superannuation in June 2016.

Jadhav is currently the chairman of Karnataka Appellate Tribunal. A native of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Jadhav began his career as the assistant commissioner of Mysuru in 1980.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who was authorised by the State Cabinet to choose a new chief secretary, decided to go by seniority while making the selection, due to intense lobbying among those aspiring to occupy the top post.
