New ISC secretary general takes charge

Member Secretary and CEO of the Central Silk Board, H Nagesh Prabhu, assumed charge as the Secretary General of the International Sericultural Commission (ISC) on January 1.

Prabhu was elected as secretary general in the governing council of International Sericultural Commission held at Mumbai on July 25. He succeeded Ishita Roy who has completed her term of three years.

Prabhu, after assuming charge, said that concerted efforts will be made to promote sericulture in India, and other countries, as an alternate source of rural avocation in developing countries, using ISC as a platform.

An IFS officer, the new secretary general of ISC has more than 31 years of experience in working in the various departments of the state government of Kerala, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Indian Council of Forestry and Research.
