Five-year-old girl mowed down by mini goods vehicle

A five-year-old girl was mowed down by a mini goods vehicle when she was playing in front of her house in Gangamma Temple Street in A Narayanapura on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Shruthika, a first standard student in a private school. She was residing along with her parents Senthil Kumar and Sumathi on Gangamma Temple Street and is a native of Tamil Nadu.

On Thursday afternoon, Shruthika came home from school and was playing with other children in front of her house. Raja, the driver of the Army vehicle, hit her when he was taking a reverse. She fell down and lost consciousness. The parents, who heard the commotion, found her lying on the ground. They shifted her to a private hospital in Kaggadasapura where she succumbed to her injuries, said the police.

The vehicle has been seized and the driver has been arrested. A case has been registered.
