The Halasuru Gate police have arrested a former security guard of Central College for making a hoax call to police recently.

The arrested has been identified as Gangadhar (46), a resident of Ramakrishnanagar in Mysuru.

Gangadhar consumed liquor along with Shivakumar, another security guard posted at the college on December 24, 2015 and picked a fight with him. He quit the job the next day threatening to teach Shivakumar a befitting lesson, police said.

The next day, Gangadhar called up the police control room identifying himself as Dawood and claimed that Shivakumar had planted a bomb at the college.

The police sent a bomb disposal squad and the entire premise was checked. The call turned out to be a hoax.

Gangadhar had made the call from his mobile phone which was switched off for the next four days.

He started using it again and based on tower location, he was arrested on Monday.

He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody, said the police.
