TN courts to get CISF cover in phased manner: CJ

The Chief Justice of the Madras High Court Sanjay Kishan Kaul today said all courts in Tamil Nadu will get CISF security cover in a phased manner.

The First Bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana was hearing suo motu the issue of CISF security cover to courts.

Advocate Haja Mohideen Gisti, appearing for the Madras High Court Registrar General, submitted that he has already submitted a report with regard to the security of Madras High Court and its Madurai bench and all advocates will be given the identity cards by the month end.

Then CJ said once the ID cards are issued problems will be solved. "The Registrar General is taking steps to implement CISF security for the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court and followed by this all the courts in Tamil Nadu will be extended CISF security in a phased manner."

Madras High Court Advocates Association President RC Paul Kanagaraj, submitted that even after 45 days of their agitation against implementation of CISF security cover, advocates who participated are facing disciplinary proceedings.

The Chief Justice said he cannot held responsible for that and he did not want to interfere with the action taken by Bar Council.

Paul Kanagaraj said advocates who took part in the protest have expressed regret but are facing disciplinary proceedings before the Karnataka Bar Council. The CJ said he did not want to interfere in the matter.

The bench then directed the advocates to submit their problems if any to the Security Committee of the court and posted the matter for further hearing to March 8.
