The Dharwad bench of the High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday ordered notice to the State government and Election Commission on a petition challenging reservation of seats for the forthcoming elections to the Taluk and Zilla panchayats.
The petitioners Siddappa Hallur and others have claimed that roster had not been followed while fixing reservation for 11 Zilla Panchayat constituencies and 46 Taluk Panchayat constituencies in Gokak taluk.
Justice B Veerappa, who heard the matter, directed the government advocate to give information to the Court on the procedure followed in determining the reservations, and adjourned the matter. The Court also ordered notice to the State government and Election Commission.
